Signing Up in the Snow, A Thank You

I took these pictures at the in-garden sign up earlier this month.  It was exciting to see how many people came out, even though there was still plenty of snow on the ground.  I wanted to share these pictures for a couple reasons. I thought it was so fun to see everyone with their iPads signing up for all their shifts.  First, thank you to the steering committee for all the research and work I'm sure they had to do to set up our sign ups online.  The system seems so smooth but I know that anything like that takes a ton of work. Secondly, thank you to all the committee and other volunteers who were willing to come out in the snow so that people could sign up for the year.  So a big round of THANKS for everyone involved.

First Sign of Spring

Thanks to Anahit Gaskill for sending in this photo--I love the first sign of spring peaking out from the snow.  I feel like all winter long I live for this very moment.

As always, if any garden member wants to share photos, videos, or stories on the blog, please feel free to email me.  I'd love for the blog to reflect the full community of the garden.

Garden in the Snow

Now that the snow is melting and SPRING seems to finally be making it's way here, I thought I'd share these photos of the garden in the snow.  While the winter has its challenges (especially for those who did all the hard shoveling work!), it's nice to know that all this snow will soon bring amazing flowers and food.  I always feel the garden is so beautiful throughout every season and here are some really beautiful scenes of the garden in snow. The last one is one my 4-year-old daughter took.  Not sure what she was doing with the camera but I thought the effect was cool!

It's time to join or renew membership in 6/15 Green!

It's that time of year, everyone! Time to renew your garden membership. Or if you want to join the garden, it's time for open membership. There are still four times available for signing up for 2015:
  • · Saturday, February 14, 11:00am-12:00pm (in the garden)
  • · Wednesday, February 25, 7:00-9:00pm (at the general meeting)
  • · Sunday, March 8, 11:00am-12:00pm (in the garden)
  • · Wednesday, March 25, 7-9:00pm (at the general meeting)
General meetings are at SJME Lutheran Church at 283 Prospect Avenue starting at 7 pm.

Remember this important information that was in the letter that went out to members: "Garden members must renew by March 25 to retain individual stewardships or to maintain their place on the individual stewardship waiting list. No applications for garden membership will be accepted after the March 26 meeting. Returning compost members should also plan to renew during this period; it will, however, be possible for new members to join as compost members later in the year."

Looking forward to seeing new members and familiar faces in the garden this year!

Holiday Lights at the Garden

Happy  Holidays everyone!  This weekend many gardeners got together to put up the lights in the garden--it looks so festive.  Thanks for bringing some cheer to the garden this season.

And thanks to Amy Schwartzman and Maria Lazarini for sending in photos of the event.  It looks like a lot of fun!
