An extremely interesting article today in Huff Post about the vertical farm industry. Seems like there are some great benefits but a lot of drawbacks, too--would love to hear garden members' views in the comments section!

Signing Up in the Snow, A Thank You
I took these pictures at the in-garden sign up earlier this month. It was exciting to see how many people came out, even though there was still plenty of snow on the ground. I wanted to share these pictures for a couple reasons. I thought it was so fun to see everyone with their iPads signing up for all their shifts. First, thank you to the steering committee for all the research and work I'm sure they had to do to set up our sign ups online. The system seems so smooth but I know that anything like that takes a ton of work. Secondly, thank you to all the committee and other volunteers who were willing to come out in the snow so that people could sign up for the year. So a big round of THANKS for everyone involved.

First Sign of Spring
Thanks to Anahit Gaskill for sending in this photo--I love the first sign of spring peaking out from the snow. I feel like all winter long I live for this very moment.
As always, if any garden member wants to share photos, videos, or stories on the blog, please feel free to email me. I'd love for the blog to reflect the full community of the garden.

Garden in the Snow
Now that the snow is melting and SPRING seems to finally be making it's way here, I thought I'd share these photos of the garden in the snow. While the winter has its challenges (especially for those who did all the hard shoveling work!), it's nice to know that all this snow will soon bring amazing flowers and food. I always feel the garden is so beautiful throughout every season and here are some really beautiful scenes of the garden in snow. The last one is one my 4-year-old daughter took. Not sure what she was doing with the camera but I thought the effect was cool!
